What is the Live Free campaign?
Every day, many children in our community live without basic necessities that many of us take for granted. Often these children arrive at school without the proper nutrition they need to help them focus in class. Put simply, they are too hungry to learn.
In 2021, due to COVID fundraising restrictions in schools, Help Kids Live Free From Hunger (Live Free) transitioned from a school-based fundraising campaign to an online campaign. With the support of sponsors and the community, we were able to raise enough funds to provide over 31,000 meals to local children and youth through our Food & Friends Program!
Supporting Live Free
The Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington invites you to be an advocate for children and youth in our community through our Help Kids Live Free From Hunger "30 in 30" campaign in support of the Food & Friends Program. Our goal was to provide 30,000 meals to local children and youth in 30 days, from March 5th to April 4th.
Our partner Keyspire, helped us begin this initiative by providing over 8,100 meals. Together we were able to provide over 31,000 meals!
Before the COVID-19 pandemic, at least 1 in 5 children in Canada faced food insecurity, and twice as many are at risk of going hungry now. Many children in our community live without the basic necessities that many of us take for granted. For some students, the food from our Food & Friends supported programs will be their only meal of the day.
But this can change and you can make a difference. By raising funds for the Food & Friends Program through the Live Free campaign, you can help provide a healthy start to the day for children and youth in our community who need it. 100% of the funds raised will help local kids Live Free From Hunger.
