What is the Live Free campaign?
Every day, many children in our community live without basic necessities that many of us take for granted. Often these children arrive at school without the proper nutrition they need to help them focus in class. Put simply, they are too hungry to learn.
Pre-pandemic, 1 in 5 children were at risk of food insecurity - and that number is at risk of climbing. Our Help Kids Live Free From Hunger campaign, presented by Keyspire, aims to raise funds to support our Food & Friends supported student nutrition programs, providing thousands of local children and youth with access to nutritious food while at school.
Supporting Live Free
The Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington invites you to be an advocate for children and youth in our community through our Help Kids Live Free From Hunger campaign in support of the Food & Friends Program. Our goal is to continue to meet the growing need in our community by raising awareness and funds to support those in need in our community.
We have seen the need increase during the current pandemic. A healthy Food & Friends meal can cost an average of $3.40 compared to $1.85 a year ago. Many children and youth in our community live without the basic necessities that many of us take for granted. For some students, the food from our Food & Friends supported programs will be their only meal of the day.
By raising funds for the Food & Friends Program through the Live Free campaign, you help provide a healthy start to the day for children and youth in our community who need it. 100% of the funds raised will help local kids Live Free From Hunger.
