Zonta Club of Guelph
June 30, 2010
Leanne McSherry, a member of the Zonta Club of Guelph, feels that their focus on service locally and globally really can make the world a better place to live. "If people feel cared for, they act differently.” Zonta members show this caring nature at one of their favourite annual service activities, a gift wrapping night for the Adopt-A-Family program.
On the wrap night, Zonta and Z Club (the high school level club) members join forces to assist the Adopt-A-Family team in getting gifts wrapped and ready to be delivered in time for Christmas. These gifts are then delivered to families in need in Guelph and Wellington. Zonta has also shown a commitment to these families by providing financial support for the program.
The Zonta Club of Guelph, part of Zonta International, a worldwide service organization, works to advance the status of women locally and globally. Zonta also supports other local organizations that focus on supporting women including Women In Crisis and the Guelph General Hospital Domestic Violence Program. Globally, Zonta has focused on assembling and shipping birthing kits to provide women in South America with the tools they need for a safe birth.
The Zonta Club provides a great way to connect with other professional women and get involved with meaningful initiatives that are supporting women in Guelph and beyond. If you are interested in finding out more about Zonta visit their website.
