Children's Foundation Partner
Every year, the Children's Foundation goes on the hunt for a seasonal home for the Adopt-A-Family Program, relying on the generosity of a local business to provide us with a donated "Santa's Workshop". Needless to say, this can be a worrisome task as there's never a guarantee that the right space will be found in time. If ever there is a time to believe in Christmas miracles, it's every fall when the search is in full gear!
Given this annual uncertainty, we were especially thrilled when Wellington Motors was able to provide the space the 492 Michener Road site for two years. For this generosity, Wellington Motors was recognized as our 2016 Sponsor of the Year.
"It's a bit of a worry every year as to whether a Holiday Hero will step forward in time to save the day," says Program Coordinator, Karyn Kirkwood. "What a tremendous gift it is to us and our incredible volunteer team to be able to set up the Workshop in the same place two years in a row. Last year, we were able to help close to 900 families during the holidays and being in such a fantastic space plays a huge part in making that happen. We are very grateful to Wellington Motors for their ongoing support!”
Established in 1940 by Wilson Woods, Wellington Motors is celebrating their 75th year in business, and that type of longevity is a result of hard work, perseverance and dedication. Wellington Motors has continued to be a family-owned and operated enterprise, with Ted Woods currently serving as President and Mike Woods as Vice-President. "We believe in supporting our customers through good, honest service, the community through sponsorship, events and personal commitments, and our staff - whose contribution to the success of Wellington Motors cannot be understated," says Ted Woods. "I always say we're not good because we're old - we're old because we're good."
The Children's Foundation is just one of a dozen or more local charities who benefit from Wellington Motors commitment to the Guelph community. But we doubt any of them get to call Wellington Motors their Holiday Hero, let alone put reindeer ears on the Vice-President!
