On Saturday, January 11th over 100 trucks and 300 volunteers trekked out in the pouring rain to help the Children’s Foundation’s Trees for Tots event successfully completed the biggest and best year yet! Soaked but full of smiles, our volunteers collected 3,514 trees and helped us raise over $68,000!

This amazing initiative has been running for 8 years after the City of Guelph announced that they were no longer collecting Christmas trees through waste collection. Each year we have incredible sponsors and partners come on board to make this event a success, such as the 2020 Lead Sponsor, Green Order Landscaping.

Our passionate volunteers are the true heroes of the event, such as Kam’s Auto Service who shared an update during the event stating “WOW!! This community cares about kids!! It was so much fun, can’t wait to do this next year.” Not only are we raising money for local children, but all of the trees collected are either chipped and donated to local revitalization projects at Ignatius Jesuit Centre, or donated to local causes such as Trout Unlimited or Growing Hope Farm.

As we mentioned, this year our lead sponsor was Green Order, a landscaping and property maintenance company that specializes in residental and commercial requirements. They service areas in Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge, Guelph, Oakville, Missisauga, Toronto and Milton. It seemed like a perfect fit for a landscaping company to come onboard as our lead sponsor for a tree and naturalization driven event. This was their first year joining Trees for Tots, and Green Order was not only on board as a sponsor, but they also volunteered as a truck driver on the day of the event. We are so lucky to have such amazing support of our events from companies like Green Order.

Trees for Tots 2020 would not have been possible without our amazing lead partners, JL’s Tree Service and Jamie’s Lawncare, or without our amazing event sponsors: Green Order, Alliance Roofing, M&T Printing Group, Ontario Student Nutrition Services, Tim Hortons, Barry Cullen Chevrolet Cadillac, Directsave, PS Probuy Safety and GM Blue Plan. We are also thankful for our other event partners: Hersey Bins, Battlefield Rentals, Baum Professional Tree Care, Cooper Equipment Rentals, Full Circle Tree Care, Grand River Group, Premier Equipment Rentals, Sloot Construction, Sunbelt Rentals, Impact Mobile Signs, Bob’s Towing, City of Guelph, Wellington Catholic District School Board, and Dave Peleschak Design.

Join us next year for Trees for Tots and see why this is the volunteering event of the year!
