Honouring Lân: A Gift That Keeps His Memory Alive

In the wake of a tragic loss in July, we were profoundly moved by the incredible gesture of love and generosity from the family and friends of Lân Lam. We did not have the privilege of knowing Lân, however his impact on those who did know him was unmistakable.

Described as generous, thoughtful, and endlessly humorous, Lân's presence could lift the heaviest hearts. His passion for the outdoors was evident, particularly in the cherished moments spent with family, capturing Pokémon at the University of Guelph Arboretum.

Initially, funds were raised to dedicate a tree in his memory—a touching tribute to his love for nature. What unfolded after that was truly extraordinary. The campaign gained momentum and touched the hearts of countless individuals, both near and far. Donations poured in, surpassing the initial goal, and inspiring a new purpose.

In honor of Lân, his family and friends decided to support our Free to Grow Program, to help children and youth experience the joys of soccer, a sport he held dear. Their gift is helping 30 children get in the game this fall, and is a beautiful gesture that ensures Lân's memory continues to inspire and bring joy to young hearts in the community.

We are deeply touched by this gift that honors Lân's memory and the impact he had on those around him.

Thank you to Lân's brother, Long Lam, who delivered the gift to our office with his wife, Mimi, and daughter, Amelia.
