As a recreational partner to our Free to Grow Program, the Guelph Minor Hockey Association (GMHA) is making hockey more accessible to families living in low-income situations. Since 2010, the GMHA has waived a portion of registration fees for children and youth who are eligible for the Free to Grow Program. This centralized approach helps applying for financial assistance for families more accessible by using one point of access for whatever activities their children choose. It also allows sports organizations like the GMHA to be at arms-length from the needs assessment process, and allow for those with the expertise and resources to properly perform the assessments.

Over $50,000 has been waived in hockey fees since the partnership was first formed, and through our joint efforts, over 100 kids have been able to lace up and play hockey in Guelph. GMHA is proud to support the Free to Grow Program and hopes to continue doing so for years to come.
