Our Scholarships 
The following are scholarships administered by the Children's Foundation of Guelph and Wellington's Scholarship Program. These scholarships are offered annually, each with different criteria for eligibility. Read more about the opportunities available below.
Klara and Oscar Bookbinder Scholarship
The Klara and Oscar Bookbinder Scholarship of $2,500 is given out annually to one student chosen from applications received from Family and Children Services and all high schools in Dufferin, Wellington and Guelph. This award was created by the Foundation in honour of the Bookbinders, accomplished musicians and scholars who emigrated to Canada from their native Hungary, settling in Rockwood. Their devotion to, and long history of, teaching music to children and youth enriched the lives of hundreds of local young music students.
Cargill Scholarship
The Cargill Scholarship of $2,500 is given out annually to one student chosen from applications received from Family and Children Services and all high schools in Dufferin, Wellington and Guelph. This award was created by Cargill Canada to provide financial support for students pursuing postsecondary education in the trades or an agricultural field. The award recognizes the student’s ability to demonstrate the characteristics of resiliency and perseverance to achieve their academic goals when faced with adversity.
Paul Hammond Scholarship
The Paul Hammond Scholarship of $1,000 is given out annually to one student chosen from applications received from Family & Children's Services and all high schools in Dufferin, Wellington and Guelph. This award was created by the Foundation in honour of past Board Member, Paul Hammond, to provide financial support for students pursuing post-secondary education. The award recognizes the student’s ability to empower themselves and others and demonstrate the characteristics of resiliency and perseverance to achieve their academic goals when faced with adversity.
Future Fund Scholarship
The Future Fund Scholarship of $1,000 is is given out annually to a student at each high school in Dufferin, Wellington and Guelph. This award is sponsored by T. Beattie Holdings to provide financial support for students pursuing post-secondary education of their choice. The award recognizes the student’s ability to demonstrate the characteristics of resiliency and perseverance to achieve their academic goals when faced with adversity. The students are nominated by the Guidance Department and/or Commencement Committee of each high school.
Promoli Scholarship
The Promoli Scholarship of $1,000 is awarded to three students in care of Family & Children’s Services to pursue the post-secondary education of their choice. Originally this award was given in memory of Stephen Promoli, the son of Fred and Patricia Promoli (former Executive Director of Family and Children’s Services). Stephen was a teenager who tragically lost his life in 1976 in Alberta and this scholarship was established to honour his memory. The award recognizes the student’s achievement of graduation, and their ability to respond to these challenges with resiliency and positivity.
Tait Scholarship
The Tait Scholarship of $7,500 is awarded annually to between one to three students in care of Family & Children’s Services to support their residence and meal plans for post-secondary education. This scholarship is generously provided by Dr. John and Kim Tait who believe in supporting youth in developing independence, social growth, and valuable life-skills in their first year at post-secondary school.
