The 16th Annual Southern Ontario Amazing Race Run's This Weekend in Support of the Children's Foundation of Guelph and Wellington
June 5, 2019
Teams from across Ontario are set to compete in this weekend’s Southern Ontario Amazing Race. The annual event is held the first weekend of June and this year marks the Race’s sixteenth year.
Similar to the network television show, the Southern Ontario Amazing Race challenges twenty teams of two to numerous physical and mental challenges throughout Southern Ontario. The event raises funds for the Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington, which works to lessen the impact of poverty on local children and empower them for a brighter future. The race has raised over $1,000,000 for the Children's Foundation, since the race’s inception!
In this two-day adventure race, teams will navigate their way across Southern Ontario, without the use of a smartphone. While some transportation is provided by race shuttles, in many cases, teams must find their way by foot or by way of public assistance.
The race will commence this Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 8:00am at John Gamble Park, 594 Kortright Road West, in Guelph, ON. This year’s race starter is local member of parliament, Lloyd Longfield. The public and press are invited to cheer on the racers as they begin their journey across Southern Ontario.
The race will conclude late afternoon on Sunday, June 2, 2019 at Fixed Gear Brewing located at 20 Alma Street S, Guelph, ON. The general public is invited to both the starting and finish lines to cheer on teams.
Race activities and updates will be posted on the race’s social media accounts and will be live-streamed on Facebook several times during the race.
