The Children’s Foundation Around the World Gala is taking you to Bollywood in 2016!

Every year, the Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington’s Gala planning committee taps into their creative side to offer their guests an enchanted adventure to a new and exciting place.  This year is no exception! 

Committee Chair, Angela Crawford, is looking forward to the Bollywood theme selected for October 2016.  “Traditionally, the Children’s Foundation Gala is a formal event but we still have lots of fun, and this year with the Bollywood theme, we will be able to pull vibrant colours, textures and music into the evening, as well as play with Indian-inspired flavours for the menu. It will be amazing…again!”

Through the Free to Play Program, the Children’s Foundation ensures that children have the opportunity to play and have fun.  This Program funded almost 1,000 children in 2015 to participate in the recreational activities of their choice.  Glenna Banda, executive director, thinks it is just as important for adults to have fun.  “Just because we “grow up” doesn’t mean we have to grow out of playing – it is still an important component of who we are and brings joy and meaning to our lives,” says Banda. “I think this event is a great reflection of what we try to provide for local children at an adult level; a strong sense of community, a great sense of fun, fantastic food and all done with a playful spirit.”

Presenting sponsor, Dan Burnham, Agency owner with The Co-operators Insurance, swiftly signed on Dan Burnhamagain this year to ensure the success of the 2016 Around the World Gala.  Burnham has been a long-time supporter of this event and the programs of the Children’s Foundation.   “It’s important for co-operatives like us that we’re connecting our values to supporting the communities where we live and work,” says Burnham. “I can’t think of a better way to ensure the future success of local youth than by supporting the Children’s Foundation, especially through their Gala.
