November 17, 2011 Meet Our New Board Chair - Jack Watson

The Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington is happy to introduce our new Chair of the Board, Jack Watson. Jack has been a member of the Board of Directors since January, 2008 and served as Vice-Chair previous to being voted in as the new Chair.

"I’m excited to be assuming the role of Chair and along with the Board continuing to support the great work of our volunteers and staff. Helping children in need is something I’m very committed to and I feel fortunate to have the support of a wide community that shares my commitment. It is through the generosity of individuals and businesses that we work towards our goal of ensuring that all children have a bright future” – Jack Watson

Jack is taking over from previous Chair Peter Barrow, who was in that position for six years. In six short years, Peter led the organization as it grew to three times its size. In 2005 the Foundation was distributing $350,000 to help children in need and this year, the amount tops $1.1 million. As well, the Foundation’s volunteer base has vastly increased, bringing more awareness to its root cause - helping more children in Guelph and Wellington experience a part of childhood that many of us take for granted.

"The Foundation relies heavily on both staff and volunteers and I was so fortunate to have worked with the very best and most passionate people. I wish Jack every success and know he will also benefit from their support and skills throughout his term”. – Peter Barrow

The Children’s Foundation is looking forward to the future and to continuing to work to support more children each year.
