May 20, 2010 Fore Our Kids Golf Raises Over $15,500 to Help Get Kids Active
On Tuesday, twenty-eight teams of golfers enjoyed a great day of golf which will help children in Guelph and Wellington have fun, be active, and learn valuable skills like teamwork.
The funds raised will support the Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington’s Grants Program which provides financial assistance to families for activities including summer camp, sports and music lessons. In 2009, 600 children received assistance through the Grants program.
A 9 year old girl who received financial assistance for soccer fees recently wrote:
"My favourite part about playing soccer was getting my uniform on. Makes me feel happy and proud.”
The 15th Annual Fore Our Kids Golf Tournament took place at the Victoria East Golf Club on Tuesday May 18th, 2010. Fore Our Kids surpassed the fundraising total of the 2009 tournament by reaching a total of over $15,500. The success of Fore Our Kids would not have been possible without the support of its generous sponsors including Gold Sponsors Cowan Insurance Group and Miller Thomson LLP.
The $15,500 raised is an important part of addressing the current needs of our community – at the end of April, 250 children had already received financial assistance through the Grants program.
