May 11, 2011 Local chefs to support Food and Friends through breakfast event

Local chefs are helping celebrate the Children’s Foundation Food and Friends program with a snazzy breakfast affair on June 8th in Old Quebec Street mall, Guelph.

Old Quebec Street has donated the space, and chefs are giving their time and supplies free of charge so that all funds raised will benefit local student nutrition programs.

Food and Friends believe that no child should go to school hungry. Where programs are available, all students are welcomed; we serve over 12,000 students a healthy meal each day.

"I never ate breakfast until I started in the program, now I do and it helps me stay more focused and learn better.  I eat healthier; I’m never sitting in class hungry so I can focus on the tasks at hand.” Grade 11 student.

Participating chefs include Chef Jan Cooper-Webb from Orchard House Gourmet, Kevin McKitrick from Platters, Chef Shawn Monaghan from Ariss Valley and Edible Arrangements. Get Juiced is supplying freshly squeezed orange juice. Guests will enjoy French-themed food and a raffle with great prizes to be won- come and celebrate with us!

"Paris in Spring,” a breakfast event for Food and Friends, is happening June 8th from 7:30am-8:30am- the perfect time to enjoy a fabulous breakfast before heading to work.

Tickets can be purchased for $40 online here, or by contacting Lindsay@childrensfoundation.org.
