Dec.21, 2009 Over 600 Families Supported Through Adopt-A-Family

This year, when we kicked off the Adopt-A-Family program there was an expectation of it being a particularly challenging year. Through the support of our generous donors, we are happy to report that we were able to provide brighter Holiday seasons for over 600 families in Guelph and Wellington County. In 2008, 531 families were supported through the program. 529 donors provided gifts for this year's families which include over 1,350 children. The families supported included independent teens up to 10 child families. They included kids being raised by single parents, both parents and 21 families in which the children's grandparents were the primary caregivers.
Individuals, families and businesses dug into their pockets so that these kids would have the chance to have their Christmas wishes come true. Due to their generosity, these families will have gifts under the tree and be able to enjoy a Holiday meal.
As the year comes to a close, we are grateful for the support of our community in 2009. Happy Holidays and all the best in 2010!
