"I exercised. I was in groups and rotated around to do different events. We played bump. I had fun. I liked being around all the other kids and having fun” - eight year old girl, basketball camp

"I learned new soccer skills. I exercised, ran around the field, swam and made new friends. My favorite part was that I got to meet different kids my age and the time 1:00 to 4:00 was great” - seven year old boy

From the parents

"Soccer was very important to my son since his school currently does not have a gym. He is hyperactive and finds it necessary to have the focus and teamwork of sports in order to grow. We were very grateful for the much needed help.”

"His soccer playing skills really soared high this year. He gained a sense of pride, esteem, team work, and a sense of belonging. He has always had a lot of energy and never enough areas to channel it. We also don’t have T.V. For our family it is really important to have things to go out and do. It was a real family event! Thank you for your help, it is much appreciated” - mother of a seven year old boy

Camp

From the kids

"I want to thank you for donating money for me to go to camp this summer. I loved it there and you should go sometime too. I did lots of fun things like crafts, canoeing, swimming and I met a new friend.”

"I liked going to camp because there I just can be myself and I can talk to my friends and the counselors about anything. I have so many special memories, playing games at night, riding the horses. I was scared but it was fun. It’s like having one BIG sleepover.”

"Camp is one of the best things about summer time. I met a lot of new and interesting people. It is a great experience! Camping out at Guelph Lake for four days was my favourite experience. Next year I’m going to be a counselor.”

"I learned many new skills; improved some I already had, made TONS of new friends and had the best summer of my life!”

"It’s hard to choose just one favorite part…But since I have to I’d have to say making new friends, because I know they will be my friends for a really long time” - fifteen year old girl

I would always do it again!” - fourteen year old girl

From the parents

"James was ‘over the moon’ and ‘couldn’t stop talking’ about his week at camp. We had no idea how he would fit in but he found himself a comfortable place and has found FRIENDS which is huge for him.”

"Thank you. You made my daughter very happy.”

"I want you to know you have made a difference in a little boy’s life this summer by sending him to camp. By doing so, you have brought hope and encouragement to a family that faces significant challenges.”

"My daughter was liked and accepted by all the kids – her self esteem and self confidence has been restored.”

"She had a blast! She was busy and happier. Her brother is 7 years older and she is on her own with me, she loved freedom from mummy! Because my other two children are so much older there is no one for her to play with her own age. None of her friends live nearby so she gets bored and lonely” - mother of eight year old girl

Beavers

From the parents

"He was able to participate in outdoor group activities with other boys his age. It helps him socially as well as physically. Beavers teaches the boys to respect their environment and they participate in activities that help the community. Beavers also is important to help teach values such as respect, honesty, and the importance or the environment” - mother of five year old boy
