    Food and Friends is excited to wake up extra early tomorrow morning to serve a healthy breakfast at the Aviva Community Fund Winners Breakfast hosted at St. John’s Catholic School. Through the partnership, we look forward to helping more children in our community have access to life enriching extracurricular sports activities.     Food and Friends is very grateful to have received the Community Involvement Award of $2,000, which will go directly to our Shelburne student nutrition programs- providing over 1,500 breakfasts to students who need a healthy start to their day.

    Back-To-School Breakfast!


    THANK YOU to our friends at The Gorge Country Kitchen in Elora! They generously donated $1 per breakfast this past Saturday, Oct. 1 to Food and Friends. Fund raised will support our Centre Wellington programs where over 5,000 students receive a healthy breakfast, snack or lunch.

    September 19, 2011 Golden Griddle in Guelph raises $600 for student nutrition!


    Dozens of families, couples, friends and even a baseball team came in for a delicious breakfast with $3 per buffet plate benefiting our Food and Friends program. Golden Griddle raised almost $600 to support hungry children in Guelph.

    May 19, 2011 A Great Day Playing in the Rain!

    34 foursomes braved the cold, rainy weather on Tuesday and raised over $20,000 for the children in Guelph and Wellington County – exceeding the $15,500 raised in 2010.

    May 11, 2011 Local chefs to support Food and Friends through breakfast event


    Local chefs are helping celebrate the Children’s Foundation Food and Friends program with a snazzy breakfast affair on June 8th in Old Quebec Street mall, Guelph.

     

    Old Quebec Street has donated the space, and chefs are giving their time and supplies free of charge so that all funds raised will benefit local student nutrition programs.

    March 14, 2011 Live Free raises $33,700


    Thanks to our participants the Live Free Campaign raised $33,700, up from $30,000 in 2010! This money will benefit Food and Friends, a program of the Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington. Food and Friends has over 75 student nutrition programs across Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph.

    Beryl Bain who received a scholarship from The Children's Foundation in 2001 says that it helped encourage and reinforce her talents during an important time in her life.

    Tickets are now available for the 24th annual Guelph Wish Fund Dinner Dance on Saturday March 19th at the Italian Canadian Club in Guelph.

    February 28th, 2011 Over 32,000 students Living Free

     

    This Friday, over 32,000 will be Living Free in support of their student nutrition program. This is up from 28,000 last year!

    One student is going above and beyond- and giving up the use of their right hand! Other students have chosen to give up talking, fighting with their sibling, their favourite treat or TV show.

    February 22, 2011- 10 Day Count Down to Live Free Day!

    Live Free Day is next Friday, March 4th- have you signed up? Glenna Pengelly, Executive Director of the Children's Foundation, is Living Free of coffee for the week. This staff member is giving up breakfast. Tyler Carroll of Guelph Storm hasn't shaved since February 4th. Should be an interesting week!

    February 4, 2011 Bird Packing donates boxes for Live Free Campaign

    Thanks to Bird Packaging, materials needed for the Live Free Campaign will be packaged safely to be sent to almost 60 participating schools and a dozen businesses across Wellington, Dufferin and Guelph.

    Special thanks to Rhonda for helping organize this, and Ross and Bob for loading the boxes into our truck in -20 degree weather!

    The Adopt-A-Family program partners families in need with community donors [individuals, families and businesses] at holiday time. Within Guelph and Wellington County, there are many families, as well as teenagers living on their own, who are unable to afford the luxury of gifts and special treats during the holiday season.
