Applying For Funding
The Children’s Foundation Grants focus on providing financial assistance for sports, cultural and recreational activities for individual children. Each child is referred to the Foundation by a parent, agency, organization or school. These referrals focus on the need of the child and how the funds will help to advance the or recreational experience of that child. Specific amounts must be requested. The funds are given directly to the organization operating the activity that the child will be taking part in.
If you have any questions about the application procedure contact us by phone: 519-826-9551 (or Toll Free: 877-826-9551) or by email: info@childrensfoundation.org

Program Guidelines & Eligibility
With the support of our program partners, our goal is to help as many children as possible through a centralized system that is easily accessible for families.
With this in mind, here are the criteria that will be used to review funding requests:
- Maximum grant per child per calendar year will be $400
- Children from birth through 18 years of age
- Children who live in the City of Guelph or County of Wellington
- Financial need must be demonstrated:
- Families with incomes below the Low Income Cut Off (currently at $22,000) are eligible for full funding (up to $400)
- Families with incomes above LICO and below $40,000 will be expected to make a partial contribution (generally estimated at 20%)
- Families with incomes above $40,000 will not be eligible
The following costs are not eligible:
- transportation
- equipment
- individual requests for school based trips such as camping trips, trips to Ottawa or Quebec, outdoor education trips, etc.
- membership fees
- insurance fees for sports/recreation
Applications will not be assessed on:
- the merits of the program or activity
- the cost of the activity
- the level of the activity (house league versus rep)
The Board of Directors of The Children's Foundation of Guelph and Wellington will review the granting maximum and LICO figures on an annual basis and make adjustments to the criteria if necessary.
The Grant Committee will review the requests on a bi-weekly basis and approve or decline based on the need of the child or family.
Due to the volume of requests received, applications may be declined solely on the basis that funds are not available.
